A Warm Welcome...
What is the world coming to when it allows me to Janet-babble for free over the internet?

A huge thanks to my oldest sister, Louise, for showing me this whole new world. (I'll give you her e-mail address later, so that you can bash her and ask her, "Why? Why did you have to unleash the monster?")

Just kidding!

I hope you're enjoying getting to know me as you view my pages.

Let's begin!

That's Me!

(August 12, 2004)

  A Little About Me...
My dad is German and my mom was Irish...
Which one do you think I look like the most?

Confused?!?!? ("Hunh?!? She's asian!")

I'll make it easy for you...
ADOPTION!

I grew up primarily in Flint, Michigan surrounded by a great family - parents, three brothers, two sisters (all older than me), grandparents, plus numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins - that is now spread all over the United States. I remember it being hectic at times at home, but full of love and laughter throughout most of our days. Thanks... I love all of you!

And A Little More...
I was born near Seoul, South Korea in 1968. I was in and out of orphanages and foster homes over there until my adoption on July 15, 1971. The doctors pinned my birthdate down as August 6, 1968, which makes me a 34-year-old Leo and Monkey (according to Chinese astrology).

I'm not a very superstitious person, but I do enjoy reading different horoscope books about my two signs. Sometimes their descriptions hit the nail right on the head. Ah well... At least I learned that my babble is natural monkey-chatter!

And What Have I Been Doing?

After I graduated high-school, Luke M. Powers, Class of 1986, I went to college at the University of Michigan-Flint off and on, worked different jobs throughout, and moved so much that my family refused to write my address and phone number down with pen.

In January of 1990, my family was faced with a three-hour time difference when talking on the phone with me from Michigan to California. As usual, they kept a full stock of #2 pencils on hand for my typically nomadic lifestyle out there.

I was married and divorced during the mid-90's and ended up joining the military to get my head and life back on-line. I met a guy from Western Kentucky while we were both serving in the Marine Corps, stationed in the same unit in Yuma, Arizona.

I tried living in Henderson and Louisville, Kentucky for a couple of years, but my road in life circled me back home to Michigan. I started out in an area near northwest Detroit, but returned to my hometown of Flint again. I lived in Flint, attended the University of Michigan-Flint full-time, and worked at the school part-time.

In January, 2005, I headed to San Diego. I thought I had met the man who had been waiting for me to be a part of his life for 34 years. I found a man, just not the one. Ah well! Life goes on...

I'm still in southern California, enjoying the sunny skies and the warmer-than-Michigan-any-winter-day temperatures. I'm doing secretarial work again, still living with my two cats and getting to know new people.
